How Can I Prevent TSS?
Cheeky Team
Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a condition caused by exposure to certain toxin-producing bacteria and though it’s rare, it can be life-threatening.
Luckily tampon manufacturers no longer use the materials that used to cause TSS in some people, but it’s still important to change your tampon every 4 to 8 hours, at least, and use the lowest absorbency tampons, especially if your period is light. If you use menstrual cups, it’s also important to empty and clean them regularly.
